ABOUT NRC PRAXIS
Knowledge is most useful when we can do something with it.
NRC Praxis is a clinical education and practice organization focused on translating mental health science into practical knowledge, resources, and care.
Our work brings together research evidence, clinical expertise, neurobiological processes, sociocultural and developmental context, and lived experience to support more informed mental health practice.
From Noble Rowan Counseling to
NRC Praxis
Noble Rowan Counseling began as a psychotherapy practice built around evidence-based, culturally responsive mental health care.
Over time, the work grew.
Clinical practice expanded alongside professional education, consultation, research translation, and the development of resources designed to make mental health science more understandable and useful.
NRC Praxis reflects that evolution.
The name praxis describes the process of putting knowledge and theory into action. It captures what connects the different parts of our work: understanding what we know, considering the context in which that knowledge will be used, and translating it into meaningful application.
What Guides Our Work
Context matters.
People don't experience mental health, learning, relationships, or treatment outside of their cultural, developmental, social, and environmental contexts.
Understanding mechanisms matters.
Knowing why something may work helps us make better decisions about when, how, and for whom to use it.
Knowledge should be usable.
Research and theory have limited value if people cannot understand, access, question, or apply them.
No single perspective has all the answers.
Clinical expertise, research, lived experience, cultural knowledge, and different professional disciplines can each contribute something important.
The People Behind the Work
Research, Practice, and Collaboration
NRC Praxis is informed by ongoing research and collaboration across disciplines.
Our research activities are housed separately from NRC Praxis, allowing the research program to focus on generating and investigating knowledge while NRC Praxis focuses on translating knowledge into education, resources, and practice.
We also welcome contributions and collaboration from clinicians, researchers, educators, students, peer professionals, and others whose perspectives can strengthen how mental health knowledge is understood and applied.
Different ways to put knowledge into practice.
Whether you're looking for professional education, clinical care, or accessible mental health information, you can explore the part of NRC Praxis that fits what you need.
